Fargo Moorhead Ballet is dedicated to bringing the artistry of dance to a broader audience within the region, and providing a vehicle whereby performing artists, technicians, and designers have an experimental field and legitimate theater on which to practice. To help develop the present and future of this art form, Fargo Moorhead Ballet
- Creates educational dance and theatre opportunities for all ages and designs interactive programs for students in the performing arts.
- Produces and sponsors events for children, adults, and families to enhance their quality of life through participation in the performing arts.
- Provides informational programs to raise public awareness of the performing arts.
- Develops curriculum and performances involving physically challenged and hearing-impaired individuals.
All programs and activities invite schools and classrooms to be a part of the dance experience. Fargo Moorhead Ballet regularly brings performances such as Children’s Ballet to local elementary schools, and busses middle school and junior high students to special performances of Spooky Ballets. Artistic staff members also visit schools to conduct lecture-demos on the different styles of dance—from ballet to hip hop—opening the minds of children to other forms of entertainment beyond what they see on television.
Children’s Ballet
Each spring, the Children’s Ballet successfully pairs very young dancers on stage with experienced Company members, providing a mentorship experience for young aspiring dancers. Past Children’s Ballet productions include A Carnival of Animals, The Little Prince, Peter and the Wolf, and Tubby the Tuba.
