We are so excited to get back into the swing of things after an odd 1 1/2 seasons. Covid made things difficult to find performance venues to hold a production, we were so fortunate to be the opening performance at the Fargo Theatre this past Spring with our Copeland Dance Concert.
We still encourage our patrons to be safe and will continue to monitor COVID, but we have high hopes moving into our NEW season.
This will be our 18th season as the FMBallet. That is a lot of productions we have put on, many dancers we have seen come and go and an audience that continues to grow. We can’t be more proud of where we have come and the places we will go in the next 18 (plus) years. In 2004, founding directors, Kathy & Eddie Gasper changed their company name from Carousel Dance Theatre to FMBallet. In a few short years after, they appointed their son, Matt Gasper as Artistic Director. The dance works from Matt, Kathy, Eddie and our guest and emerging choreographers over the years has really blossomed this company.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 — We will holding 2021-2022 Company auditions. Dancers at an advance - professional level age 14 - adult are welcome to audition. Company members are features in our two major productions. This season they will also have the opportunity in choreographing and performing in sections of Carnival of the Animals. We feel like this will be a great opportunity for our company to work with young dancers and become creative with choreography. We have other things in the works as well, and will announce the additional mini shows, events and appearances we have planned once dates and details are secured. We can't wait to dance with you this season!
(Audition form link is found in the description of the sign up and should be filled out prior to the audition.)
DECEMBER 2021 — To start the 2021-2022 season we start where we ended off, with a CLASSIC! The Classic Nutcracker will open our season in December at NDSU Festival Concert Hall (please note that all locations are subject to change). This magical holiday tradition will bring the holiday spirit to your heart. The Classic Nutcracker is a family friendly show that will make you want to get up and dance, see the twinkle in your little (or big) child’s eye, and give you a warm happy feeling. Don’t miss this spectacular holiday event.

SPRING 2022 — In the Spring of 2022, we are heading back to the Fargo Theatre for a show with wit and magic! Coppélia is a charming family friendly storybook ballet that will keep you guessing if she is real or a doll. Fun fact! Artistic Director, Matt Gasper LOVES magic. Any chance he gets to add it to a show, he will. This will be no different, don’t miss this witty performance of Coppélia Spring 2022 at the Fargo Theatre.
Open Auditions: January 2022
JUNE 2022 — Something NEW! We are introducing a brand NEW program to our 2021-2022 season. A Youth Intensive and Production will take place June 2022 featuring Carnival of the Animals. This is a fantastic mentorship and opportunity program for both our company members and community dancers ages 6-16. The FMBallet company along side Artistic Director, Matt Gasper will choreograph the show together. The company members will also be given the opportunity to perform alongside the young performers taking part in this intensive. Over 2-3 weeks, dancer’s will learn choreography and assist in a variety of aspects of putting a ballet production together. There will be a final performance (free to the public) at the end of the program.
The FMBallet has always believed in the mentorship of dancers and inspiring dancers. That could mean an older dancer inspiring a younger dancer, or the Artistic Staff encouraging a company member to choreograph. We cannot wait to launch this program next summer! This program will have a fee. Auditions will take place in March 2022.
JULY 2022 — We are back with another amazing dance intensive July. We are proud that we can offer an amazing training program during the summer right here in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. With master instructors around the United States. Our program focuses on a range of dance styles as we feel that a well rounded and versatile dancer has greater success when finding work outside the area, as well as a higher success in college programs. This is a 3–week program that meets Monday - Friday (7 hour days). Auditions will begin in November 2021 for this incredible summer intensive program.
